A full-fledged laboratory was built in the house of an ex-Navy man to manufacture heroin. That heroin was spreading across the state beyond the boundaries of the district. It was also reaching other states. The Special Task Force (STF) exposed the veil of that transaction after receiving information from secret sources. Four people have been arrested, including the former Navy personnel Golam Murshed.

Golam built a palatial house in Rajua, a remote village of Katwa in East Burdhaman. The business of making heroin was going on in that house. STF got the information from a secret source. A joint operation was conducted at Golam's house with the police of Katwa police station late on Friday night. A large quantity of morphine (from which heroin was made in the laboratory) and cash were recovered.

According to STF sources, Golam has been associated with heroin trade for a long time. But the benefits are limited. So in the greed of extra profit, he recently paid lakhs of rupees and brought two people skilled in making heroin to his house in Rajua village. The laboratory is made at home. There two artisans used to make heroin from morphine. After that, the drugs would reach different places beyond the boundaries of the district.

After interrogating the detainees, SPF and state police officials are trying to find out where and to whom the heroin produced in the laboratory was sold. Where did the heroin makers come from? The police want to know how long this business has been running.
