Assam: Minor Madrasa students were forced to take Jihadi training, 2 Maulana arrested

Two Maulana of a Madrasa were arrested by police for giving jihadi teachings forcefully to students. On 16th of November, Shilchar Police arrested the two accused maulana from Sonai. 

Abul Hossain Laskar and Delawar Hossain Majumdar were teachers at Swadhinbazaar Islamia Madrasa and Etimkhana. They were teaching minor boys for many years. But on Wednesday, a student of Eighth standard named Sain Khan made serious allegations against those two.

He alleged that the students of that madrasa were given jihadi teachings forcefully. The student also alleged that he was tortured physically and beaten badly as he refused to take jihadi teachings. After which, the father of the student filed a written complaint at Shilchar Sadar Police Station.

Upon receiving the complaint, the police summoned the two Maulana. After long hours of interrogation, the duo were arrested. Police filed a case against the two maulana on various provisions of IPC as 295, 323, 342 and 34. Police Super of Cachar district Numul Manhatta said, ‛We have found proof that Jihadi teachings in that Madrasa. We are also collecting more evidence.’

As per information, the victim student was admitted to that madrasa in March this year. He alleged that every night after 10 PM, the two maulana called students and gave special lectures. All students were forced to attend the class. But when he refused to attend, they tortured him, he alleged. Sahabudfin Khan, father of the victim student demanded strong punishment for the accused maulanas.
